Small Surf Forces Lay Day for Volcom Fiji Pro, Swell Projected for Coming DaysCLOUDBREAK, Tavarua/Fiji (Sunday, June 8, 2013) - Competition for the Volcom Fiji Pro has been called off for today, with small surf on offer at Restaurants and Cloudbreak. A new swell is expected to deliver in the coming days, prompting event officials to recommence competition as early as tomorrow.
“Small surf this morning, so we’ve called competition off for today,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “A new swell is expected to start showing signs of life and we could be running as early as tomorrow.”
Surfline, official forecasters for the Volcom Fiji Pro, are calling for:
New, mid period SW swell builds on Sunday, strongest in the afternoon hours, as breezy SE trades continue. A longer period SW swell will build Monday afternoon, peak Tuesday afternoon/evening and gradually ease Wednesday. Fading surf takes over Thursday and Friday. Easing ESE trades prevail Monday through Wednesday.
Up first will be Jeremy Flores (FRA), 25, against Miguel Pupo (BRA), 21, in Heat 4 Round 3 when Volcom Fiji Pro competition resumes.
