BARRA DA TIJUCA, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil (Monday, May 8, 2013) – The Billabong Rio Pro and Colgate Plax Girls Rio Pro has been placed ON HOLD this morning until 11:30am with event organizers opting to assess conditions for a possible noon start.

“The winds have kicked up overnight and it’s not ideal conditions this morning,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “The swell is good size for the banks though, and if the winds become more manageable in a few hours, we’ll certainly consider a start today. Next call at 11:30am.”

Event organizers will convene again at 11:30am to assess conditions for a possible Noon start.
