BANZAI PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii (Saturday, December 10, 2011) – The Billabong Pipe Masters is on for a third consecutive day with four-to-six foot (2 metre) waves and today’s schedule is expected to see a champion crowned by day’s end.
The Final stop on the 2011 ASP World Title Series, the Billabong Pipe Masters also represents the third and final jewel of the Vans Triple Crown. Still in the running for the prestigious Hawaiian title are John John Florence (HAW), 19, and Michel Bourez (PYF), 25.
“The big swell we’ve had over the last two days has dropped off significantly, but we still have plenty of surf on offer to run competition today,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “We’ll begin competition straight away and crown the Billabong Pipe Masters Champion today.”
Up first this morning will be Pipeline local Jamie O’Brien (HAW), against Joel Parkinson (AUS), 30, in Quarterfinal No. 1.
