Flat Spell Forces Competition off for O’Neill Women’s World Cup

SUNSET BEACH, Oahu/Hawaii (Monday, November 29, 2010) – A fourth consecutive lay day has been called for the O’Neill Women’s World Cup of Surfing with minimal one foot (.5 metre) surf prevailing at Sunset Beach.

Stop No. 8 of 8 on the ASP Women’s World Tour, the O’Neill Women’s World Cup represents the second jewel of the Vans Triple Crown and also plays a vital role for competitors sitting on the bubble for requalification for the 2011 ASP Women’s World Tour.

“Our flat spell has continued and we’ve been forced to call the contest off again today,” Richie Porta, O’Neill Women’s World Cup Head Judge said. “Unfortunately, it’s looking like tomorrow could be small as well, but there is a promising swell on the horizon for Wednesday.”

Surfline, official forecasters for the Vans Triple Crown are expecting small-scale surf to prevail again tomorrow, but are monitoring a promising swell that could see competition back in action as soon as Wednesday.

The O’Neill Women’s World Cup, which runs in conjunction with the ASP PRIME O’Neill World Cup of Surfing holds a waiting period from November 24 through December 6, 2010 and is webcast LIVE via http://www.triplecrownofsurfing.com/oneillworldcup/
