Impressive Swell Expected for Oxbow ASP World Longboard Main Event

MAKAHA, Oahu/Hawaii (Monday, November 1, 2010) – The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships has finalized the draw, the with main event set to hit the water as early as tomorrow after deciding the final event wildcard via a 32-man surf-off today in building two-to-four foot (1 metre) surf at Makaha on Oahu’s west side.

The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships is a winner-take-all event with the victor earning the title of 2010 ASP World Longboard Champion.

“We’ve completed the trials and were really impressed with the level of local talent here at Makaha,” Eli Curry, Oxbow ASP World Longboard Head Judge said. “We’re in excellent position for the remainder of the event and should have plenty of swell on tap for the main rounds.”

With a promising northwest swell expected to grow to the 10-to-12 foot (3-4 metre) range by tomorrow, the event’s Round 1 action has the potential for some breathtaking performances.

The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships holds a waiting period from October 30 through November 7, 2010.
