Lay Day for Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships
MAKAHA, Oahu/Hawaii (Saturday, October 30, 2010) – The opening day of the Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships at Makaha on the west side of Oahu, Hawaii saw only inconsistent one foot (.5 metre) surf on offer, forcing event officials to call competition off for today.
The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships is a winner-take-all event, with this year’s champion taking the 2010 ASP World Longboard title.
With an impressive swell expected to detonate the surf-rich Hawaiian island as soon as Monday evening and a healthy waiting period on offer, event organizers are expecting to wait to commence competition.
“The surf is really small today and a massive swell is on the horizon for the coming days,” Eli Curry, Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championship head judge said. “We will still return tomorrow at 7am to make a call, but there is no need to rush a start to the event.”
The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships holds a waiting period from October 30 through November 7, 2010.
