Hurley Pro at Trestles is ON in Building Swell
LOWER TRESTLES, California/USA (Thursday, September 16, 2010) – A building swell in the three-to-four foot (1.5 metre) range is pulsing through Lower Trestles this morning, prompting event organizers to call the Hurley Pro at Trestles on at 9am.
Stop No. 6 of 10 on the 2010 ASP Dream Tour, the Hurley Pro at Trestles is the first event to host the newly-formed ASP Top 34 and also plays an integral role in this year’s heated ASP World Title race.
“As expected, the new swell is beginning to come to life this morning so we’ll be back on at 9am,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “We plan on wrapping up Round 2 this morning and will assess conditions before moving into Round 3.”
After jumping out to a quick start on the opening day of the waiting period, the Hurley Pro at Trestles saw three consecutive lay days, but with a newly-forming south swell expected to light up the iconic cobblestone pointbreak of Lower Trestles, there should be no shortage of action for the remainder of the waiting period.
Surfline, official forecasters for the Hurley Pro at Trestles, are calling for the newly-forming south swell to build throughout today and Friday before peaking on Saturday, providing excellent conditions for the remainder of the Hurley Pro at Trestles waiting period.
The first heat of the day will see Owen Wright (AUS), 20, face off against Luke Munro (AUS), 27, in Heat 6 of Round 2 at 9am.
