so also wenn dion noch rausfliegt was wir ja hoffen,
dann ist marlon doch 16 oder irre ich mich da?
das heisst dann wiederum, dass tiago sich direkt qualifizieren muss und dann wäre marlon dabei?

es gibt ja auch noch einige gerüchte, dass josh kerr nicht auf der wct surfen will...

achja und was ist mit den leuten die evtl aufhören z.B bruce irons und wohl auch andy, dann faselt kelly ja immer was von ruhestand(was ich nicht glaube), taylor knox hat auch so was in der art mal verlauten lassen...gehen deren plätze an jungs aus der wct oder kommen dann mehr von der wqs rein?

ansonsten wäre marlon ja erster replacement surfer, so wie letztes jahr nic muscroft, der hat ja auch 4 oder 5 events mitgesurft.

Nicol narrowly missed qualifying for the 2009 World Tour at Sunset Beach today. The O’Neill World Cup of Surfing is the last event of the 2008 Qualifying Series (QS) season. The following QS surfers have all qualified for the 2009 World Tour (WT): Nathaniel Curran (USA), Chris Davidson (AUS), Michel Bourez (PYF), Gabe Kling (USA), Jihad Khodr (BRA), Josh Kerr (AUS), Nic Muscroft (AUS), David Weare (ZAF), Kekoa Bacalso (HAW), Tim Boal (FRA), Greg Emslie (ZAF), Dustin Barca (HAW), Tiago Pires (BRA), Phillip MacDonald (AUS), and Drew Courtney (AUS). Depending on Tiago Pires’ performance at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, Marlon Lipke (DEU) may qualify for the 2009 World Tour.

So Dion ist dann gestern auch noch brav rausgeflogen 
Marlon ist tatsächlich jetzt erstmal 16. und damit Replacement Surfer, fällt ein WCT-Pro bei einem Event aus, wird Marlon als erster gefragt ob er mitfahren will.

Zu Josh Kerr hab ich leider noch keine offiziellen oder inoffiziellen Statements gehört, da er sich aber so auf der QS reingehängt hat schätze ich eher dass er seinen Platz nicht freigibt.

Die Leute, die freiwillig auf der CT aufhören geben ihren Spot an den nächsten CT-Fahrer weiter der nicht qualifiziert ist. Kommt Marlon also auch indirekt zugute, da Tiago so nach vorne rutscht und es leichter hat sich noch direkt zu qualifizieren. Gut ist auch dass Tiago völlig ohne eigenen Druck surfen kann, er hat im Prinzip nichts zu verlieren und kann sich ein paar tiefe Pipe-Barrels reinziehen.

Kelly Slater hat sich übrigens schon für den 1. Event in Snappers angemeldet, er will die 10 voll machen. Für Pipe ist er aber scheinbar noch nicht angemeldet

Mal ein bischen rumgerechnet,
also ein 9. Platz für Tiago in Pipe wäre schon gut damit das Marlon was hilft.

Unter ganz verrückten Umständen könnte auch ein 17. Platz reichen, wen AI und BI nächstes Jahr beide nicht antreten und Roy Powers ebenfalls nicht über den 17. Platz hinauskommt bzw. Mick Campbell 'nen 33. einfährt

Ansonsten sollten folgende Leute möglichst schlecht abschneiden

Hab noch 'ne Neuigkeit. Gibt da leute auf fantasysurfer die behaupten folgendes:

Wenn 2 Fahrer freiwillig nicht mitfahren nächstes Jahr, geht der 1. frei gewordene Spot an den ersten WCT-Fahrer der nicht qualifiziert ist, der 2. frei gewordene Spot geht an die WQS.

Somit könnte es also sein dass Marlon drin ist wenn beide Irons-Brüder ihren Spot abgeben, egal was Tiago macht. Weiss aber nicht ob das wirklich so ist.

North Shore Chronicles: Europeans Wrap up 2008 WQS Season in the Spotlights

WAIMEA BAY, Oahu (Saturday, December 6, 2008) - That's it, the ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) have come to an end celebrating its sixteenth year of action and success around the world and massive surf blessed the final event of the 2008 season, the O'Neill World Cup of Surfing won by former ASP World Champion CJ Hobgood (USA). With WQS contenders having a chance to qualify until the final day of the year, it added serious pressure to the already tensed atmosphere brought by the testing conditions.

All fifteen names are now officially published and the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Europe congratulates Michel Bourez (No. 2, PYF) and Tim Boal (No. 11, FRA) for qualifying, as well as Tiago Pires (No. 13, PRT) for requalifying through the Grind. Bourez and Boal will be rookies on next year's ASP World Tour, keeping up Europe's impressive roll since 2006 when Miky Picon (FRA) first qualified for the Dream Tour. In three years, the number of Europeans on tour has gone from 1 to a minimum of 5 next year, Jeremy Flores (FRA) leading the charge by far with impressive results at 20-years-old only.

Guaranteed to compete on next year's Dream Tour are Jeremy Flores (FRA), Miky Picon (FRA), Tiago Pires (PRT), Michel Bourez (PYF) and Tim Boal (FRA). A total of five men that could rapidly go to seven if Aritz Aranburu (EUK) gets the injury wildcard he has applied for and Marlon Lipke (DEU) ends up getting in if Pires secures a big result at the upcoming Billabong Pipeline Masters starting December 8.

Lipke is sitting on the bubble at the moment with his fate being in Pires's hands after an impressive run on the WQS in 2008. Pires, who has impressed all year at all barreling lefthanders on tour including Indonesia where he finished 3rd, is expected to do well in what should be a solid Pipe. His peers know how deep the Portuguese can get on his backhand tuberides and everyone will have fingers crossed for Lipke who showed he deserved his Dream Tour spot.

Apart from competition, many of Europe's usual WQS performers have been enjoying the 15 to 20 ft swells hitting the North Shore since the O'Neill World Cup of Surfing ended, including female representative Lee-Ann Curren (FRA) always happy to charge whenever she can. Pires's fellow countryman Ruben Gonzalez (pictured, PRT) broke a board in pumping Pipeline leaving the water with a smile on his face while Michel Bourez got caught under three waves of another massive day feeling more alive than ever after coming home.

As the swell seems to be dropping, lots of intense action still to come on Oahu's North Shore. All four ASP World Tour Europeans will enter the waiting period of the final event next Monday, December 8, with the will to wrap up 2008 as good as possible.

Flores, currently No. 10 in the world, has all skills to get into that Top 10 in one of the most spectacular waves on tour while the crew's only goofyfooter Miky Picon (FRA) who is sitting No. 18 will be one to watch in the expected hollow barrels. Pires, as said earlier, needs to improve his current rating by two spots to open the door to Lipke, and Aranburu has yet to get his first big result of the year.
