ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz Waiting Period Kicks-off with a Lay Day

The site for the 2011 San Miguel Pro Zarautz.

Zarautz, Basque Country – Spain (Tuesday, August 30, 2011) – The ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz presented by Euskaltel entered its six-day waiting period today, inconsistent one-foot (0.3 meter) unsurfable conditions forcing officials to call competition OFF for the day.

“It’s impossible to get any heat running today so we have decided to call a lay day and get back tomorrow to check if any surf is on offer,” San Miguel Pro contest director Aitor Aguirremota said. “We are looking at a new swell supposed to hit Zarautz from Thursday.”

Third event of the ASP European summer leg and following a week break, the San Miguel Pro Zarautz will feature 144 surfers battling through the week for invaluable ASP World rankings points and a share of the USD 145.000 overall prizepurse.

The ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz pres. by Euskaltel is scheduled from August 30 – 4 September, 2011. For more information, and all upcoming results, photos, video highlights, press releases and LIVE webcast log-on to; www.aspeurope.com
