Competition Called Off for Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships
MAKAHA, Oahu/Hawaii (Sunday, October 31, 2010) – Event organizers at the Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships were forced to call a second consecutive lay day with only small one-to-two foot (.5 metre) surf breaking at the righthand pointbreak of Makaha on Oahu’s west side.
The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championship is a winner-take-all event, with this year’s winner earning the title of 2010 ASP World Longboard Champion.
“The surf has come up a little this morning, but with a promising swell on the horizon for the next few days we’ve opted to wait for conditions to improve to start the event,” Eli Curry, Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships Head Judge said.
The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships is expected to begin as early as tomorrow with an impressive northwest swell forecasted to ignite the Hawaiian Islands over the next few days.
The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships holds a waiting period from October 30 through November 7, 2010.
