KERAMAS, Bali/Indonesia (Sunday, June 16, 2013) - The ASP World Championship Tour is set to make its inaugural stop at one of the world’s most high-performance waves at Keramas on Bali’s east coast for the Oakley Pro Bali. The world’s best surfers are all in countdown mode until they can don a Oakley Pro Bali jersey and tackle the intense tubes, rippable open faces and air section that Keramas is known for and with Canggu looming as potentially the tour’s best back-up location, you won’t want to miss a minute of the action.

Surfline, official forecast partner of the Oakley Bali Pro are tracking a good size Southwest swell for the first two days of the event waiting period, Tuesday the 18th and Wednesday the 19th, from recent storm activity south of Madagascar. This swell will be largest at Canggu, although Keramas will certainly see some contestable waves as well. Long range forecast charts and models indicate a number of medium size or possibly better SW to SSW swells will also occur during the waiting period, arriving roughly every two to three days after the initial pulse of swell.

Tom Whitaker, former ASP WCT campaigner and Oakley Pro Bali Contest Director is going to be using his competitive experience and his intimate knowledge of surf conditions at Keramas and Canggu to put the world’s best surfers in the world’s best waves.

“It’s going to be a thrill and really fun to take on this new role,” Whitaker said. “I’m still at 90 percent of WCT events and still compete with these surfers and with the judges, so I think we will all work really well together. All we need is a little swell and these surfers will blow our minds. They will make any call I make look good!”

Stop No. 5 of 10 of the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour, the Oakley Pro Bali runs from June 18 – 29, 2013, thanks in part, to the support of valued event partner Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A.
