Rain And Competition Resumes The Billabong World Junior Championships

A grey Gold Coast day. PIC: ASP/Kirstin.BURLEIGH HEADS, Queensland/Australia (Friday, 27 January, 2012) – The rain has returned at the Billabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast today. But despite the downpour there’s 2 foot (1 meter) of clean swell rolling in at Burleigh and the call has been made to run the women’s Round 3 followed by men’s Round 4.

“I’d like to get 16 heats done today,” Contest Director Luke Egan said. “That would really set us up to pick the eyes out of the swell for the men’s and women’s Quarters, Semis and Finals on the weekend. It’s dropped off a bit today so it looks like the inside bank will be the go today, we’ve also made the call to have 25 minute heats as jetski assist will help the surfers catch plenty of waves.”

Every heat of the Billabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast will be webcast live via www.billabongpro.com
