Final Day of ASP WLT Bear Pro presented by Jeep is ON
ANDORA, Italy (Sunday, November 20, 2011) – The ASP World Longboard Tour (WLT) Bear Pro presented by Jeep is ON with Round Two kicking off the proceedings for the day. The event has relocated once again to the town of Andora, 180kms North West of Levanto. Clean lines in the 1-2ft range are peeling along the main peak however swell predictions are showing a decrease in wave size throughout the day.
Officials and surfers decided at the dawn meeting to commence Round Two of competition and to continue assessing the conditions round by round. The swells in the Mediterranean Sea can drop very quickly and officials want to ensure that no rounds of competition are only partially completed.
ASP International Head Judge Tim Marshall, spoke with the surfers and a majority decision to hit the water as soon as possible was made with competitors in heat one to check in.
“It is definitely a round by round situation. From the outlook of the surf from what I have been told it could die very quickly. We may not finish the event. That is a real possibility and the other thing is that Round Two will influence people for their qualifying chances. So we will do Round Two and finish it and then play it by ear to see if the waves stick around and we can finish the event.”
Due to the remote location no LIVE webcast is available however LIVE scores from each heat are being transmitted. Further updates will be posted at the end of today’s action.
