SWATCH Girls Pro China Concludes With Noserider Division

WANNING, Hainan Island/China (Friday, 28 October, 2011) - The cleanest conditions of the week greeted competitors this morning as Riyuewan Bay stacked up with shimmering, ruler-edged lines. Male and female invitees to the Noserider Division of the SWATCH Girls Pro China were provided the perfect blank canvas in the form of ultra clean shoulder-high peeling lefts to exhibit their finest footwork, with the judging criteria simple: riding the nose.

“These are the best conditions we’ve seen here for noseriding for sure,” said contest director Harley Ingleby, himself a top rated pro longboarder, “With the bowl section tapering so straight like this, the guys and girls should get the chance to really get up on the nose and show their stuff.”

Christian Wach (USA) emerged victorious after a closely fought final, and picked up $3500 for his troubles.

“Wow that was a pretty tense last two minutes,” Wach said. “I new if Harrison got a wave he could get the score easy.”

Wach was a stand out in the early rounds, scoring a perfect 10 point ride, and was understandably delighted with the win.

“This event has been so cool, I’m so stoked I got invited. Big thanks to Swatch and to China.”

Harrison Roach (AUS) finished in close second, putting his body on the line in the name of performance,

“I dislocated my shoulder out there falling on to my board,” Roach said. “I popped it back in myself and got back to the lineup, trying to find a wave to take out Christian,”

Kassia Meador (USA) finished “ 3rd, with Kaitlin Maguire, (USA) in 4th. Earlier in the morning, crowd-pleaser Robert ‘Wingnut’ Weaver picked $1000 bonus ‘most entertaining’ prize.

The noserider division was the exciting conclusion of a historic week for surfing, with the SWATCH GIRLS PRO CHINA hosted by Wanning being the first time international pro competition has ever been staged in China.
