Second Consecutive Lay Day called at ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz
Zarautz, Basque Country – Spain (Wednesday, August 31, 2011) – The ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz presented by Euskaltel has been called Off again today, with only inconsistent one-foot (0.3 meter) unsurfable conditions on offer at the main break of Zarautz.
Forecasts show a new swell coming in later this week and San Miguel Pro Zarautz contest director Aitor Aguirremota is trying to determine the course of the next few days.
«Nobody really knows when that swell we expect is coming. The forecast says 0,5m with a 17s period for the next day but it’s something i’ve never seen. One thing is for sure, as soon as the first waves reach our main beach we’ll start the contest. Maybe it will be tomorrow afternoon, maybe not.»
With four days remaining in the ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz presented by Euskaltel official waiting period, Aitor Aguirremota prepares for an action packed weekend.
«We are trying to anticipate all possibilities, and are preparing double podiums for split banks if we need it. The swell will definitely be here on the weekend and we could have excellent conditions for the end of our waiting period.»
The ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz pres. by Euskaltel is scheduled from August 30 – 4 September, 2011. For more information, and all upcoming results, photos, video highlights, press releases and LIVE webcast log-on to;
