Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior to Decide Australasian Pro Junior Champions

Coolangatta, Queensland/Australia (Monday, 11 July, 2011) – ASP Australasia can now confirm that this week’s Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior will be the final event on this year’s ASP Australasian Pro Junior Series. The 6-Star rating men’s and 3-Star for the women makes this year’s Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior the biggest event on the ASP Australasian Pro Junior calendar and is sure to set the stage for a massive end to an exciting year of surfing.

The gate is wide open for the guys and girls to jump up the ratings and take out the ASP Australasian Pro Junior Championship as well as the coveted 4 men’s and 2 women’s spots at the ASP World Junior Championships. Dane Jordan, ASP Australasian General Manager is excited about the upcoming Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior and is looking forward to a climactic finish to the ASP Australasian Pro Junior series.

“It’s great to have Fantastic Noodles take our partnership into its fourth year,” Jordan said. “Every year the Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior gets bigger and better and it’s going to be a huge finish to this year’s ASP Australasian Pro Junior Series. There are multiple men and women in the mix for the ASP Australasian Pro Junior Championships and places to represent Australasia at the World Juniors, so it’s going to be great to see who stands up.”

Ryan Callinan (Merewether, Newcastle/NSW) is currently ranked 4th on the Australasian Pro Junior Series and is looking good for a spot in the 2011 ASP World Junior Tour. Callinan competed on the World Junior Tour last year and finished ranked equal 23rd.

“I’m feeling pretty good, but I’m trying not to think about ratings and stuff,” Callinan said. “If I can win an event the rest will sort itself out. It feels like a world title race or something. I like that there are heaps of guys in the race, it makes it more exciting to see who can handle the pressure.”

“I ‘m in Bali right now, but not too worried about going from warm to cold water,” Callinan said. “I got my first 10-point-ride at the Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior last year and made the Quarterfinals. I’ve always done well there so it’s an event I love going to.”

The Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior will  run from Thursday 14 – 17 July at Victor Harbour, South Australia and will see Australasia’s best surfer’s under 21 battle it out for points and prizemoney. The event will be webcast live, don’t miss a minute of the action.
