The collection of talent and beauty features current ASP Top 17 members Carissa Moore (HAW), Laura Enever (AUS) and Coco Ho (HAW), as well as ASP Women’s Star surfers Lakey Peterson (CA), Monyca Byrne-Wickey (HI), and Malia Manuel (HI), delivering groundbreaking aerials and long barrels with a message that transcends well beyond the lineup: this generation of surfers has changed their sport.
“I’m surrounded by surfing all day, every day and I see a lot of great riders. But what these girls are doing has to be seen to be believed,” says Leave A Message director and Nike 6.0’s surf team photographer Jason Kenworthy.
Shot over two years at the world’s hottest surf locations including Australia, California, Hawaii and Mexico, the girls show grace and strength in the water elevating women’s surfing to fantastic new heights.
On the surface, this is a film about six unique and talented girls doing what they love – surfing and traveling with friends. But below the surface, down where the water gets dark and the coral unforgiving, is the real story, the story of six surfers pushing themselves and their sport as far as they can.
Laura Enever says it best, “Girls surfing has changed, so get used to it.” LEAVE A MESSAGE is a true testament to just how much Laura and her generation of surfers have changed their sport.
