Billabong ASP World Junior Championships is LIVE, Women’s Title Decided Today
NORTH NARRABEEN, New South Wales/Australia (Tuesday, January 11, 2011) – The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships is ON for the fourth consecutive day with two-to-four foot (1 metre) waves pouring into North Narrabeen Beach and today’s schedule is slated to see the ASP Women’s World Junior Champion Crowned today as well as men’s Round 3 in its entirety.
Competition will begin with the Women’s Semifinals before moving into the first nine heats of Men’s Round 3. The Billabong ASP Women’s World Junior Title will then be decided and the day will conclude with the back half of Men’s Round 3 action.
The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships is the final stop on the inaugural ASP World Junior Tour, which hosts the planet’s finest under-21 talent as they battle for the highly sought-after title of ASP World Junior Champion.
Yesterday’s action saw North Narrabeen local Davey Cathels (AUS), 19, earn some of the event’s highest scores while a list of underground international talent began to make a name for themselves on the global stage to complete Round 2 of the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships.
The opening heat of the day will see French talent Justine Dupont (FRA), 19, against defending Billabong ASP Women’s World Junior Champion Laura Enever (AUS), 19, in the first Women’s Semifinal.
The first heat of men’s competition will see powerful Hawaiian Granger Larsen (HAW), 20, versus Billabong ASP World Junior Championships wildcard Ryan Callinan (AUS), 18, in Heat 1 of Round 3.
A cash reward is also handed out at the end of each day, the Von Zipper More Bang Bang for Your Buck, which recognizes the competitor who pulls off the most progressive maneuver of the day.
