Gilmore’s Indo Adventures on Surfline
HUNTINGTON BEACH, California (Tuesday, October 5, 2010) – Reigning three-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 22, has had some down time in between events, and while the Aussie juggernaut is marching on her way to a fourth-consecutive ASP World Title, Gilmore decided she’d spend her down time pushing the level of women’s surfing in perfect Mentawai barrels with her fellow Rip Curl team riders. Surfline.com featured Miss Gilmore’s latest Indo adventures before she set out for the upcoming Rip Curl Pro Portugal. This… is their story……
Welcome back, folks, to the next leg of the Tip2Tip journey. This is the ladies’ trip, and as you’ll see, they scored. Again. (There’s a reason surfers continually scour the coastline of Indonesia: it has more perfect setups than anywhere in the world.)
Though, as Steph Gilmore admits, the perfect Mentawai boat trip isn’t quite as intriguing as it once was. “The hardest part about this whole Tip2Tip thing is that Indo has been so traveled through,” she explains. “You’re expecting the same package. We were trying to be a
little different, to get a combination of images of the culture and lifestyle and being on the boat and exploring…we did find a bunch of new waves.”
