EDP Cascais Girls Pro ON at Guincho, ASP Women’s World Title in Play

GUINCHO, Cascais/Portugal (Friday, October 4, 2013) – The EDP Cascais Girls Pro presented by Billabong has relocated to the secondary venue of Guincho where the world’s best surfers will resume competition at 8:30am this morning in clean three-to-five foot (1 – 1.5 metre) waves.
The eighth and final event on the 2013 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT), the EDP Cascais Girls Pro will serve as the decider of this year’s ASP Women’s World Title between Carissa Moore (HAW), 21, and Tyler Wright (AUS), 19. With event organizers anticipating a full day of competition, there exists potential for the world surfing champion to be crowned by day’s end.
“We have clean conditions on offer today at Guincho and we’ll get competition underway at 8:30am,” Dave Shipley, ASP Women’s Head Judge, said. “We have called Round 2 on with Rounds 3 and 4 on standby. We’ll monitor conditions throughout the day and make adjustments accordingly. Good luck to all our competitors today.”
Up first this morning will be Alana Blanchard (HAW), 23, up against Silvana Lima (BRA), 29, in the opening heat of Round 2.
