BURLEIGH HEADS, Queensland/Australia (Monday, 23 January, 2012) – Contest officials have called an 8am start to the Men’s Round 2 at Burleigh Heads today. This is the first man-on-man elimination Round at the Billabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast, and we could potentially see a shake up in the ASP World Junior Title Race with ratings leader Caio Ibelli (Brazil) surfing in Heat 1.
“Conditions aren’t perfect this morning, but I’ve see some of the boys free surfing and there are still a few sections out there,” Contest Director Luke Egan said. “I’m not sure if we will surf all of Round 2, we’re going to keep assessing conditions as the day goes on. If we get some heats done each morning on this high tide it will set us up to be more selective for the the Finals later in the week.”
