COOLANGATTA, Queensland/Australia (Monday, October 17, 2011) - As the inaugural SWATCH GIRLS PRO China hosted by Wanning draws nearer with just over one week until competition commences, the top contenders for the 2011 ASP Women’s Longboard World Title are making their final preparations before departing for the Far East.
Among the pre-event favourites is Justine DuPont (FRA), who recently secured her status among the elite 17 women to contest for the 2012 ASP Women’s World Title, and will be one to watch in the long left-handers of Riyuewan Beach, China.
One of the few competitors, male or female, to compete at the highest level in both shortboard and longboard disciplines, DuPont is also relishing the prospect of being part of surfing history in China.
“I love the feel of the longboard and doing longboard competitions. I don’t think I need to be restricted to just one type of board. I think the two can compliment each other; the longboard helps add grace and style to shortboard technique and shortboarding helps give a radical, competitive edge to longboarding.”
Of the opportunity to be among the first pro competitors to showcase ASP competition in Chinese waters, DuPont said, “We are so lucky to travel all over the world with our ‘job’, and now going to China is just an amazing opportunity. I’m really excited, I can’t wait.”
