Billabong Pro Junior Asia To Kick Off This Week At Cloud 9




SURGIAO ISLAND, Philippines (Tuesday, 20 September, 2011) - The 2011/2012 Australasian and Japanese ASP Pro Junior Series could possibly start tomorrow at the inaugural Billabong Pro Junior Asia presented by Sony Ericsson.

This will be the first ASP event to be held in the Philippines and will offer Australasian and Japanese Pro Junior surfers the chance to surf one of the world’s best surf breaks while competing for coveted prize-money and points towards the 2012 ASP World Junior Tour. Billabong Asia’s Brand Manager, Peter Thew can’t wait to see the action unfold.

“The Billabong Pro Junior Asia has been developed to showcase the best Asia surfing has to offer, both surfers and surfing destinations,” Thew said. “We started out at Bali’s famous right hander, Keramas, and now we are so pumped to see it moved to the world renowned Cloud 9 break in the Philippines.”

Creed McTaggart (Margaret River, WA/AUS) the highly touted 17-year-old from Margaret River is looking to make a good start to his 2011/2012 ASP Pro Junior campaign here at Cloud 9.

“This place is amazing, it’s like being on a boat trip or surf trip somewhere exotic, except we’re here for a contest,” McTaggart said. “I did a couple of the events last year, but I’m planning on doing them all this year, so it’d be great to get off to a good start here.”

The first event of the 2011/2012 season, the Billabong Pro Junior Asia presented by Sony Ericsson will take place from 21 – 28 of September 2011. The Billab ong Pro Junior Asia presented by Sony Ericsson with supporting sponsors Air Asia, Nixon, and Von Zipper. The event is endorsed by the Provincial Government of Surigao Del Norte and the Philippines Department of Tourism, ASP Australasia.
