Subaru Pro TSB Bank Women’s Surf Festival is LIVE at Back Beach

Paige Hareb (NZL), 20, New Zealand's only ASP World Tour surfer, will be in Roun 1 Heat 1 of the Subaru Pro TSB Bank Women's Surf Festival.
TARANAKI, New Plymouth/New Zealand (Thursday, April 28, 2011) – After relocating to the event’s back-up site Back Beach for a 9am start this morning, conditions failed to produce the quality or consistency of surf required for elite level competition, forcing organisers of the Subaru Pro TSB Bank Women’s Surf Festival to delay the start until 1.15pm.
“While there were a few great looking waves coming through this morning, the consistency just wasn’t there so we opted to wait a few hours for the tide to turn and conditions are looking far more contestable at Back Beach right now,” Dave Shipley, ASP International Women’s Head Judge said.
Competitors are suiting up for the first heat of the day that will see ASP World Tour rookie Tyler Wright, 17, (AUS) up against former ASP World Champion Chelsea Hedges, 27, (AUS) and local surfer Paige Hareb, 20 (NZL).
ASP World Tour rookie Tyler Wright, 17, (AUS) will take on former ASP World Champion Chelsea Hedges, 27, (AUS) and local surfer Paige Hareb, 20 (NZL) in the first heat of Round 1.
