Billabong ASP Women’s World Junior Championships Round 2 and 3 ON Today
      





NORTH NARRABEEN, New South Wales/Australia (Sunday, January 9, 2011) – The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships is up and running for the second consecutive day with one-to-three foot (.5 metre) surf filtering into North Narrabeen. Today’s action will see women’s Round 2 take to the water first before moving directly into women’s Round 3 competition. No men’s competition will be held today.

The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships represents the second and final stop on the ASP World Junior Tour, with the finest under 21 surfers from around the planet battling for the prestigious title of ASP World Junior Champion.

“We’ve got clean conditions once again this morning that should provide an excellent stage for the women’s competition,” Pritamo Ahrendt, Billabong ASP World Junior Championships Head Judge Said. “Following Round 2, we’ll move straight into Round 3 of the girls with no men’s competition today.”

Yesterday’s action saw ASP Women’s World Junior Tour Rankings leader Tyler Wright (AUS), 16, start her Billabong ASP World Junior Championships campaign strong with an opening heat victory while defending event champion Laura Enever (AUS), 19, advancing directly through to Round 3 as well.

Today’s proceedings will see the first elimination round of the event with Felicity Palmateer (AUS), Diana Cristina (BRA), Minato Takahashi (JPN) surfing in the first heat of the day for a spot in Round 3 of the Billabong ASP Women’s World Junior Championships.
