BARRA DA TIJUCA, Rio De Janeiro/Brazil (Saturday, May 11, 2013) - Tyler Wright (AUS), 19, has won the Colgate Plax Girls Rio Pro over Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS), 22, in clean two-to-three foot (1 metre) waves at Barra Da Tijuca, simultaneously overtaking Carissa Moore (HAW), 20, for the No. 1 position on the ASP Women’s WCT Rankings.
Wright built momentum throughout the day, besting Hawaiian Malia Manuel (HAW), 19, and ASP WCT rookie Bianca Buitendag (ZAF), 19, before the final win over Fitzgibbons while posting the highest scores of Plax Girls Rio Pro competition.
Wright’s win at the Colgate Plax Girls Rio Pro marks her second victory of the season following a season-opening victory at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast.
