Hey Thanks,

hard to navigate wo knowing German.

The surf rips here pretty consistently but it is bloody cold outside of the summer.

More episodes will show snow-patrols!

Thanks and keep watching!

Craig

Oh i think i was tracking through Mpora forum and someone had posted somethign about good surf sites and knowing that Germany was similar latitude and climate I thought it might be apprortiate.  Also there are tons of Germans living on the South Shore of NS.

Good stuff, mate! Nice to know having good conditions at places where not everyone goes to.

Which wetsuit do you use in winter?

Germany has the same latitude but not the same climate. In Winter we profit a little bit by the gulf stream, when we surf in the North Sea. The watertemperature never decreases below 5-7°C (41F - 45F). Baltic Sea is a bit colder, but also "surfable" with 6/4mm wetsuits.

Well, we get some of that gulf stream too and many of the swell from the hurricanes that come up the coast.

Deep winter is usually best 5/4 full hoodies/gloves and boots of course and some go for drysuit.

Water temp gets down to zero sometimes.  when i used to surf more I remember paddling out through tem meters of slush :).

I'm sure well have some crazy winter footage as the show rolls on.

Thanks for the props, next episode prob be out tues next week.

Hitting it big time with episode 10 from SurfDonkey (www.surfdonkey.ca).  The doc says a few more weeks out of the water so we bring you an pre-surgery epic sub zero barrel session from the deep winter.  Featuring a wicked track "Trouble" by local superstar Classified.

Classified generously let us use this track show show him some support by buying his tunes.  You can find out more about him at www.halfliferecords.ca.

Yes!  We scored a Rip Curl H Bomb wetsuit to demo.  For those that don’t know, this is Rip Curl’s battery operated wetsuit that features heat coils integrated into the back panel of the suit.  The current water temp is 1C (33F) so we still have good testing waters.  It’s the first one in Canada (that we know of) and probably one of the first third party reviews around.  Have a look to see how it performs here http://surfdonkey.ca (http://surfdonkey.ca) and the donkey notes.

And needless to say, Lance has mostly recovered from surgery.  Mostly. I think I smell a cortisone shot.

Don’t forget to leave a comment at http://surfdonkey.ca (http://surfdonkey.ca).

Beitrag von: surfdonkey am Juni 12, 2009, 05:30:32
Here is our bilingual (Spanish) contribution to the Surfilm Festibal (http://www.surfilmfestibal.com/) being held in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain.  The organizers have been following the show and asked us to drop in something.  In this episode Lance is already cranky from a bad surf session the day before and we get an inside look at the preparation needed to surf in -8C Canadian conditions.  Some killer Nova Scotia rides with a post-session excuse-a-thon (that we have all pulled one or twice in our own surf history) and watch the drive-through chatter at the end.

Have fun and get yer donk on.

Shaun Majumder, Canadian comic and actor extraordinaire, joined the SurfDonkey crew for some chilly surf sessions awhile back. We get into the finer points of warming your wetsuit in winter surf and human diving. He even caught a ride for the surfaratzzi. Look out TMZ!

With Sam Roberts in town to play at the Sidney Crosby / NHL Stanley Cup celebration and Matt Mays in for the Canoe '09 Sprint Kayak races it was too good of an opportunity to try and get these Canadian rock icons out for a little surfie.  Watch this video for some pre-surf shenanigans and classic Nova Scotian summer beach break surf.

Drop some comments as we hit some sloppy Santa surfing during our annual Santa Christmas surf.

We don a holiday hat and rip some waves. Well, we kinda rip it. Maybe not the best day evr! but when there’s waves in December you go.
The water temperature is only 4 degrees Celsius and the air that day was a nice 1 degree Celsius. Not bad for Canada in the winter.
Have a great holidays and look for us back in production on a regular schedule.
Thanks for watching!
