Arashi Kato Captures Win at Oakley Pro Junior in Chiba, Japan

SHIDA TSURIGASAKI ICHINOMIYA, Chiba/Japan (Sunday, August 5th, 2012) - Arashi Kato (JPN) has won the Oakley Pro Junior, the sixth ASP Japan event of the season, at Tsurigasaki Beach in Ichinomiya, Chiba in excellent three-to-four foot waves.

Kato got the best of fellow Japanese surfers Kaito Ohashi, Takumi Nakamura and Takumi Yasui to advance through to the finals and consistently posted 7-point rides to clinch the victory as well as the ASP Japan Pro Junior Series for the second consecutive year.

“Thank you for all the people watched our surfing,” Kato said. “The wave size jumped up and the positioning became difficult. I was lucky to get the first good wave and relax. I just did my best to get my second scoring wave. Once again thank you all.”
